It will be a season of transition for the Mountain West Conference. Gone are Utah and BYU. In is Boise State. Next season, TCU is out and Fresno State, Hawaii and Nevada are in.
Boise State will be the favorite to win the MWC, and with a win in the opener could be in the National Championship discussion and the third MWC school to qualify for a BCS Bowl. TCU may have to retool on offense, but the two-time defending champs won’t go down easy before they exit to the Big East.
It could an exciting year for the Air Force Academy. Troy Calhoun’s team is coming off of a 9-4 season that includes a bowl win and the Commander-in-Chief trophy. The pieces to an explosive offense are returning to the lineup.
Read More Post a comment (0)At today’s Mountain West Conference media day held in Las Vegas, newcomer Boise State was voted as the preseason favorite to win the conference. The Broncos received 28 of the 31 first-place meda’s votes while two-time defending champion, TCU received the remaining three votes. TCU leaves for the Big East in 2012.
Boise State, who won or shared eight of the last nine WAC titles, also has the conference’s preseason offensive player of the year in quarterback Kellen Moore. TCU linebacker Tank Carder was named the conference’s preseason defensive player of the year.
