NCAA Football LogoThere will be plenty to watch for during Saturday’s games in non-AQ action (yes, there are teams other than LSU and Alabama playing Saturday). There will be two MAC upstarts kicking things off followed by Wyoming trying to upset TCU in Laramie. Air Force will look to clinch its second consecutive Commander-in-Chief’s trophy while Houston’s Case Keenum and Boise State’s Kellen Moore will look to continue their assault on the record books. The nightcap will feature two of the top running backs in the WAC facing off.

Here is a look at Saturday’s best:

Ball State Cardinals (5-4, 3-2) at Eastern Michigan Eagles (5-3, 3-1), ESPN3, Noon ET – A battle between two of the Mid-American Conference’s surprise teams. The Eagles have already won as many games this season as they did between 2008 and 2010. Eastern also has its most wins in a single season since 1995, when they went 6-5. They have won three of their last four behind the nation’s 15th ranked rushing attack (226.13 ypg). The Cardinals, who won only four games all last season, will be playing the second of three straight road games. When both teams have lost this year, they have lost big. Eastern’s margin of defeat in its three losses is 31.33 ppg, while Ball State’s is 34.50 ppg.

TCU Horned Frogs (6-2, 3-0) at Wyoming Cowboys (5-2, 2-0), The MTN, 2 p.m. ET – If the Cowboys are to make a serious run at the Mountain West title, a win against the Horned Frogs is necessary. However, it won’t be easy. TCU has won a Mountain West-record 20 consecutive games. They have won the last three meetings against Wyoming by the average score of 48 to 5.67. The Cowboys are off to their best start since 1998 (6-1), but their two losses have been by a total of 68 points. They have never started 3-0 in the Mountain West. TCU’s offense is averaging 42.88 ppg (8th best in the nation) and is led by quarterback Casey Pachall, who has thrown 19 touchdown passes this season.

Army Black Knights (3-5) at Air Force Falcons (4-4), CBS, 3:30 p.m. ET – Fans shouldn’t expect to see the ball in the air much when these two teams meet. The Black Knights are the top-ranked rushing team amongst FBS teams, averaging 369 rush yards per game, while the Falcons are third (326.88 ypg). Air Force has dominated this series as of late winning five in a row by an average of 22.60 ppg and 13 of the last 14. A win by Air Force would clinch their second straight Commander-in-Chief’s trophy with a win.

14/14 Houston Cougars (8-0, 4-0) at UAB Blazers (1-7, 1-4), CBSN, 8 p.m. ET – The Blazers, who are ranked 115th in total defense (481.25 ypg) and 112th in scoring defense (35.13 ypg) will try to stop the Houston offense, which is ranked first in both offense (612.38 ypg) and points scored (52.25 ppg). Keenum needs 268 passing yards to pass Timmy Chang of Hawaii (2000-04) as the all-time leader in passing yards. A win would put the Cougars at 9-0 for the first time in school history.

5/5 Boise State Broncos (7-0, 2-0) at UNLV Rebels (2-5, 1-1), CBSN, 10:30 p.m. ET – This is the first time the two schools have met since 1976 and if Boise State joins the Big East it could be another 35 years before they meet again. The Broncos enter the game having won every contest this season by double digits and sport the Mountain West’s top defense (300.57 ypg) and offense (488 ypg). This could spell trouble for UNLV, who has allowed 35 or more points in six of its seven games this season. A win will give Moore the record for most wins as a starting quarterback in FBS history. He is currently tied with Texas’ Colt McCoy (2006-09) with 45.

Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (4-4, 3-1) at Fresno State Bulldogs (3-5, 2-1), ESPNU, 10:30 p.m. ET – Both teams will be looking to keep pace with Nevada and Hawaii in the WAC race. The game will feature two of the WAC’s top running backs. Fresno State’s Robbie Rouse leads the conference in rushing with 123.00 ypg, while Louisiana Tech’s Lennon Creer is fourth with 87.75 ypg. Louisiana Tech has won its last three games while Fresno State has lost three of its last four contests. Fresno has dominated the series as of late, winning four of the last five meetings.
