Cardinals, Parrish Looking to Build a New Win Streak

LewisThe last two years have been a wild ride for the Ball State football program. Last season the Cardinals started off 12-0 and reached as high as 12 in the BCS rankings. After closing out last season with losses in the Mid-American Conference Championship game and the GMAC Bowl, the Cardinals started off 0-7 and 0-3 in the MAC.

Now under the direction Stan Parrish after Brady Hoke departed to take over the San Diego State program, the Cardinals finally got in the win column last weekend beating Eastern Michigan, 29-27. In that game, Cardinal running backs MiQuale Lewis (301 rushing yards) and Cory Sykes (203) combined for 504 rushing yards–the most ever by teammates in a single-game in Division I history.

What may be more amazing is that the win was Parrish’s first since Oct. 18, 1986, when as the head coach of Kansas State, the Wildcats defeated Kansas, 29-12. After that win Kansas State went 0-26-1 under Parrish.

This week Ball State plays host to the Ohio University Bobcats (5-3, 3-1).
